A number of people on the list lately have been posting pictures of their skull fountains... and as I can remember the links, I'll give them due credit.  I think Wormy's was one of the recent ones that I really admired.

Well, I was down at Home Depot, and I saw this one on clearance for $30

The topper is a cutesy man and woman, and the water comes out over the top of the umbrella.  I figured I could take that off, and I was right.... in fact, it came unassembled, so I just left it in the box.

I was showing Mistress Evil how I was going to mount the skull directly on top of the fountain, and she said, "You know, it would be neat to raise it up on a spinal column".  Wow!  Great idea!  Frantic searching through my bones by the pound from Anatomical Chart Co failed to turn up Bucky vertebrae, but I did find a number of rib cage pieces with spine attached from some Mr. Thrifty's.

I took a piece of 3/8" copper tubing, and then drilled out the vertebra until they would fit on the tubing.  At the top is a compression fitting so that I could have a threaded section to screw the 2 pc Bucky Skull into.  I just slid the rib pieces onto the tubing, and then cut off the ribs in staggering lengths to give the impression of vertebrae.  I think it turned out rather well.

I still need to do some work with the fountain itself, but as you can see, it works great.  I just drilled two holes through the eyes, and the tears come pouring out.

I'll update the page as I do more work on the fountain itself.  I'm thinking some vines, maybe some Spanish Moss.  Not sure what color yet.
